"Pelican mail out from the bay Of Shoals Winery"Harvest again is well and truly behind us and the wine is about to be bottled or put to bed in the barrels.
This year we had a visiting winemaker from Germany who looked after the harvest and the processing of the fruit. Anne Trautwein joined us from her parent's winery in Bahlingen for 10 weeks and has since returned home. Thanks Anne all the team thought you did very well particularly when you were confronted with a few mice!!! Easter saw the "Young at Art" group exhibit in the wine shed and our visitor numbers were double that of last year. Thank you to everyone for your support both in visiting the Island and also the winery. We have just released the 2008 Riesling and 2008 Chardonnay and soon the 2007 Shiraz and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon will be launched. The Riesling and Chardonnay along with the 2007 Island Blend and the 2007 Vintage Fortified have been entered into the Boutique Wine Maker's awards which will be judged in June/July hopefully we will continue the success we have had in winning Gold and Bronze medals at these wine awards. James Halliday features us as one of his "Ten dark horses" in his 2009 Wine Companion. His rating of 4_Stars represent "An excellent winery able to produce wines of high to very high quality".
